MORRILTON [June 2024] – TOLM group participated in the Poultry Federation’s 64th Annual Poultry Festival on June 21st and 22nd. They fielded teams for bass fishing, golf, and the annual BBQ cook-off on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
The cook-off team spent Friday night setting up their tent and decorations, preparing for Saturday’s cook-off and booth judging competition.
This year’s theme was “Space, Cowboys, and Chickens,” leading to the creation of the Cosmic Cluck Saloon. Unfortunately, strong winds the next morning destroyed most of the decorations before the judges arrived. However, quick thinking led to a humorous narrative about an “asteroid” causing temporary damage to the “saloon,” which amused the judges and prevented a devastating impact on the decoration scores.
The cooking team started their Saturday at 5:30 am, firing up the smoker for their specialty: chicken thighs. Simply seasoned, these juicy morsels were a hit among the festival attendees who sampled food from all participants.
At the awards dinner that night, TOLM took home second place in the Allied Division for their chicken and won the Grand Champion title in the Allied Division for both the booth and the cook-off. We are extremely proud of the team for their perseverance and teamwork, especially as it was their first time competing in the Poultry Festival.
In addition to participating in the competitions, TOLM’s marketing team designed the logo for the 64th festival and the Cook-Off competition shirt. It is an honor to join our clients in one of the poultry industry’s biggest annual events.
In the bass tournament, the team caught four fish weighing a total of 10 lbs, while the winners caught five fish totaling 18 lbs. The golf team finished the day at -11, securing an 8th-place finish.
