Miller and TOLM Group Honored at Chamber Banquet

NOVEMBER 18, 2019, MORRILTON, AR – The Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet on November 6, proved to be an exciting night for the TOLM Group as their new Corporate Headquarters was recognized as Business Site of the Year and in a surprise ending Owner, Mike Miller, was named the 2019 Earl Love Business Leader of the Year.

Tolm’s administrative, construction project management, and engineering services personnel recently relocated to their new home in downtown Morrilton.  The company purchased the old Coca-Cola bottling plant from the City of Morrilton in 2017 and after investing $2MM in renovations to the historic landmark, they now have around 20 employees occupying the space with room to grow.  The Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the company for their local investment with the 2019 Business Site of the Year Award.

As the ceremony drew near the end, it was time for the much-anticipated Earl Love Business Leader of the Year award to be announced.  The award, named for the late Earle Love, was created in 1997 to recognize the efforts of strong business leadership ethics, a commitment to education, and community spirit shown by a particular business leader in Conway County.  The awardee is selected by a committee of previous honorees and is announced at the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet each year.  Mr. Miller was overwhelmed with surprise as the presenter began reading and he realized that her story was about him.

The award was presented by the daughter of last year’s winner, John Maus, and she spoke of Mike’s creativity and optimism and how he “values hard work, sees the best in others, and recognizes that teamwork is what gets the job done”.  She closed with a story Mr. Maus recalled about Mike when asked why he didn’t just retire when he had the chance, “My joy comes from helping others succeed and watching people do well.  I get satisfaction, knowing I played a part in improving the lives of others.”

Mike and his wife Suzan have owned Point Remove Lodge in Conway County for many years but made Morrilton their full-time home after selling Cooling and Applied Technologies (C.A.T.) in 2016, a business that he built from the ground up in Russellville.  Since then they have invested in TOLM as well as several other companies in the area breathing new life into each of them and creating new opportunities for the citizens of Conway County.

TOLM Group is a diversified construction and engineering service provider headquartered in Central Arkansas offering services across multiple divisions including commercial, industrial, heavy civil, and water-wastewater for clients across the United States.
