TUPELO BAYOU WWTP ODOR CONTROL

TOLM Group served as the general contractor for Conway Corporation’s odor control improvement project at the 65-acre Tupelo Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant in Conway, Arkansas. The project focused on reducing odors generated during wastewater treatment, improving facility operations, and minimizing impacts on the surrounding community. 

The project included the construction and installation of two independently operated odor control systems: a 14,000 cubic-feet-per-minute (CFM) bioscrubber and a 17,700 CFM carbon adsorption system. Work involved constructing concrete equipment pads, installing odor control vessels, blower fans, electrical controls, and an extensive network of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) and PVC ductwork. 

Additional improvements included upgrades to existing headworks odor collection ductwork, installation of aluminum covers on two primary clarifiers, modifications to the thickener building ductwork, and application of corrosion-resistant coatings to existing concrete structures. 

The new systems were designed to capture air from high-odor areas throughout the treatment plant and direct it through specialized treatment vessels to remove odorous contaminants before releasing the treated air. Integrating these systems into the existing facility required coordination of mechanical, structural, and electrical components. 

Through comprehensive construction and system integration, TOLM helped Conway Corporation strengthen odor control capabilities, protect critical infrastructure, and improve the overall treatment environment. The completed improvements support long-term facility performance while helping reduce odor impacts on the surrounding Conway community.
